
Daintree Drift River Snorkel & Cultural Experience
Breakfast with the birds, a river drift snorkel, and a hunting expedition.
0800: Meet your guide at ‘Breakfast with the Birds’, who will then show you around the Rainforest Habitat, a wildlife park of the future and world leader in mixed immersion exhibits.
1030: A short drive north through the historic township of Mossman where we arrive at our river destination for river drift snorkelling. Experience full environmental immersion as you journey along the river allowing the gentle currents to float you through the rainforest, observing the river life and surrounding flora. Suitable for all ages and abilities, our guides will teach you how to snorkel and search for the native fish and animals of the river, including saw shelled turtle, spotted eel and if you are lucky you may even spot a platypus!
1300: A tropical picnic lunch and refreshments are served as we relax by the beach.
1400: Finally we meet the Walker Brothers - Linc and Brandon Walker - traditional custodians of the Mossman and Cooya lands. Part of the Kuku Yalanji nation they delight in showing visitors their traditional hunting areas and you will learn hunting and gathering methods including spear fishing and mud crabbing techniques. Afternoon tea is served giving the chance for informal question time and artefact viewing.
1630: Return to accommodation.
All refreshments, tropical picnic lunch and snacks are included. It is advised to wear comfortable clothing for day touring. Bring bathers, towel, sunglasses & sunhat. A change of clothes may be required should conditions be wet!
