A fabulous time to be on the river, and is the optimum time for birdwatching. Species often found include the Great- Billed Heron, Black Bittern, Nankeen Night Heron, Papuan Frogmouth, Double-Eyed Fig Parrot, Wompoo Fruit-Dove, Shining Flycatcher, Large-billed Gerygone and Yellow bellied Sunbird.
